16th November 09
The 4th Club Championship 2009/2010 race took place on Sunday 15th November at Shouldham Warren.
On race day, however, the sun was shining and the wind was almost non-existent. Ten Eye Community Runners turned up and there was great speculation
of whether to run in spikes or trainers. The course is on quite firm sandy tracks although there are some parts near the river that can
get quite soft. During 'warm up' there were mixed feelings on wearing spikes or not and in the end about half of the runners decided to
run in spikes while the others opted for normal racers or trainers. This was a two lap course of 9k with some stiff hills. As the race
started the two Chris’s and Tony Gray led ECR runners and after the first hill Tony went in front with Chris Dimmock in hot pursuit followed closely by
Chris Burgess. Roslyn Loutit and Yvonne Goodsell battled for the Lady Vet place with Ros proving too strong for Yvonne on the way round
and taking the lead. During the second lap Tony Gray faltered with a problem with his calf. Chris D and Chris B both took advantage of Tony’s
misfortune and went ahead. Chris D proving the stronger of the two finishing first for the club. Even so Tony still ran brilliantly to finish 2nd V60 overall.
The first ECR lady to finish was Roslyn once again proving that she has got herself into great shape and also claiming the 3rd LV45 overall.
Mike Wright splitting the first two ladies coming in next with Yvonne Goodsell soon after. Gill Bates with a strong finish and Linda Oswin just outside 50
minutes claiming the 3rd LV55 prize, followed by Jane Haynes just ahead of Tony Dwight finishing with a very surprising turn of speed in the
last 100 meters to finish in sub 56 minutes.
8th November 09
As usual with the Bushfield Frostbite there was a high turnout with nearly 500 runners, nineteen of which came from Eye. First home for the club was Darren Ping (20th) with Ros Loutit
the first lady at 264. Eye finished in 16th place on the day, missing 15th by only 2 points. It was good to see some new faces to the
Frostbite series, with new members, Mark Wells, Darren Spearing and Andy Short all looking as if they enjoyed their first Frostbite race. It was also good to see Jane Haynes
make a return to competition, having been out of action for nearly four years following injury. Next Frostbite on December 13th.
Don't forget the next event in the Club Championship takes place on Sunday 15th. It is the Cross Country race at Ryston.
12th October 09
Twenty six Eye runners out at the Great Eastern with a further 18 helping to man the start and finish areas. Thanks to everyone who
took part and helped. With a new course and good weather conditions there were at least six pb's amongst Eye runners and I expect there
are more, if you are one of them please let me know.
4th October 09
The new Frostbite season got under way today at St.Neots, with good running weather in what was an extreme contrast to last years persistent
rain. First home from the sixteen club members who ran the event was Darren Ping (24th) with Roslyn Loutit
first lady at 267. It was good to see Tony Gray and Simon Lovell return to competition, finishing in postions 141 and 400 respectively.
Eye came 14th overall out of 17 teams.
4th August 09
What a great result from the Handicap event with £250 being donated to 'Help the Heroes' a worthwhile cvause I hopr you will agree.
There were 58 guests at the Presentation Night held at Ferry Meadows early in July. With good weather it was the perfect venue. Thanks to all
those who came along, I do hope that you enjoyed it.
26th June 09
June has seen two more Eye organised races. The first earlier this month was the annual charity race which this year was in aid of The
Rudolph Fund. The event raised £650 for the charity. Thanks to all those who ran and helped to make the event a success.
The second race was the Eye event in the Peterborough GP Series. The numbers for all races have increased this year and the Eye race saw
210 complete the 5k course with a further 44 the 3k race. Thanks to all those who helped with marshalling. I know the runners appreciate the
support given.

just ahead of Jon Massingham (11th). Yvonne Goodsell was the first lady home at 278 with Roslyn Loutit at 281 and Amanda Wells scoring at 323. Tony Dalton was the last man to score. Eye finished 15th on the day and

Nineteen Eye Runners out today at a snowy Bourne Woods in the fifth race of the series. Team Eye came 13th, which following the 9th place at Ramsey
is disappointing. The last race is at BRJ on 1st March. Please try and help your team by being there. We could still improve on our 12th place
overall.
Members, if you want to take part in the Eye team for the Round Norfolk Relay in September, please return your stage selections before 12th Feb. If you have lost the form please ask for another one.
4th January 09

Nineteen Eye Runners took to the paths at Hinchingbrook Park today in the third race of this years Frostbite League, recording our
highest place so far in the series, coming 9th. Although this still leaves the club in 12th place at the half way stage, a good showing at
the next three races could so easily see us moving up the table.
7th December 08
The annual 'Mince Pie' night is being held this coming Thursday at the club. Normal rules apply, bring some food, a raffle prize and yourself.
There will be a run, probably to view the many lights on display in the village. Afterwards at the Spade and Shovell.

29th November 08
Despite the cold and snow our four teams again conquered the Hereward relay. Due to a late change the teams weren't as evenly balanced as
previous years therefore the gap between first and last was over 20 mins. First team home for Eye was 'Eye Sore' with Tony Dalton giving the team an early boost which
Darren Ping used to advantage on stage four. Darren finished in 10th place on the stage.
Eye also fielded three Ultra Runners, two of which, Joel Brand and Pete Kirwin completed the full distance of 37 miles. Gary Masters completed the
course from Peterborough to Welney, a distance of just over 27 miles.
10th November 08
As usual the Bushfield Frostbite proved popular with 487 runners completing the senior race, with Eye fielding 27 of those. First home for Eye was Darren Ping
in 13th position. Thanks to everyone who turned out. Lets see if we can better for the next race at Huntingdon on December 14th.
13th October 08

55 prize.
6th October 08
With the wet weather the conditions were less than ideal at St Neots for the first Frostbite of the series. With four of our runners
at the Great North where Mike Branston led the Eye contingent home in a time of 1:32:24 and Mike Wright attempting to see Nessie again at Lochness, completing the course in 4:19
together plus one or two sick and injured our numbers were down to sixteen runners and only managed to secure a disappointing 13th place. Please try and make the next one at Bushfields
on November 9th so that we can move up the table.
29th September 08

The first event in the club championship for 08/09 saw Pete Sterry's 12 year old club record for the 5k distance beaten, with Darren Ping taking six seconds of Pete's time
finishing the race in 17:19. Co-incidentally both times were achieved at Werrington. Darren was the first of the senior men, with Jon Massingham & Joel Brand 2nd & 3rd making
an interesting start to the 08/09 season. Chris Burgess led the vet men. Another close call came in the Senior Ladies with Jane Masters taking the homours in a close race from Claire Edwards.
